2008 Activities

This year at Long Point Park, Shiloh Adventure Camp will offer a large variety of outdoor activities for the campers, according to their age and abilty.

Campers will sign up for special Teach Me Groups (TMGs) as they may desire at Sunday Orientation.  TMG actiivities wil be subject to volunteer instructors availablity and schedule.  (BTW - Adults who have a special hobby, avocation or God-given talent they'd like to share, please contact the Director, Lou Larsen (321) 452-3942.)

This year Shiloh will offer a number of off campus excursions and neat activities that Parents will need to provide consent on the "Medical Information and Parent Consent Form."  We've also set-up for two optional SPECIAL EXCURSIONS that incur a nominal additional cost.  The Night Turtle Nesting Hikes are by reservation only and are very limited (please call to confirm). 

 

Small Boat Sailing

Campers will get instruction and
demonstration
 rides on a small (Hobie Cat) or monohull.  All boat riders must wear PFDs at all times, and pass the "intermediate swimmer" test.

Motorboat Rides Fridays will be our big blow-out boating day on the Indian River.  All boat riders must wear PFDs at all times.  Beginners & non-swimmers okay.
Skiing, Knee- or Wakeboarding For those campers able to - skiing, wakeboarding or kneeboarding will be a great way to cap-off their week at camp. Must pass "intermediate swimmer" test.  Bring your wakeboard or accessories if you'd like.
Tubing Some ski boats will put large tubes or pull toys (no flying/hopping type water toys) on an exillerating ride.  Must pass "intermediate swimmer" test.
Beach Surf and/or Inlet 'L' Dock Fishing Excursion Depending on adult fisherman volunteer availablity, campers will be driven to the nearest beach or to the Sebastian Inlet State Park for a morning of fishing.
Barrier Island Environmental Center Excursion We're blessed to be within 3 miles from a new enironmental center with interactive displays, nature films and a 1 mile nature hike.

The Barrier Is Center and FL Fish & Wildlife offer evening events (8:45 - 10:30 pm) at the center to watch the Loggerhead turtles laying eggs.  This is a very limited activity, subject to volunteers who can chapparone campers and an additional fee of $10.00.  Please call for reservation/availability (321) 452-3943.
Sebastian State Park 'Tidal Pool' Snorkeling and/or 1715 Spanish Fleet Treasure Museum Excursion Just 2 miles away is unique opportunity for campers to go snorkeling in the protected 'Tidal Pools' of the inlet.  While a group snorkels another group will be driven by volunteer drivers to the nearby 1715 Spanish Fleet interactive Treasure museum.  Snorkelers must pass the 'intermediate or good swimmers test.  An additional fee of $5 will be collected for going to the museum and snorkeler who have their own equipment; $15 for park/museum entry and mask, snorkel and fins rental.
   NOTE TO PARENTS:  Shiloh performs a thorough county, state, and national crime and sex-offender background check of all volunteers or chapparones who may be in-charge of campers during these short excursions without a Shiloh Staff/Counselor riding in the car.  Additionally, all volunteers who drive personal vehilces, including drivers of motorboats, wil have their DMV driver history checked for adverse offenses.

RISE & SHINE - All campers awake to the High Shenanigans Radio Morning Show. 

EARLY DEVOTIONS - Join camp director, campers and counselors at Scout Island for morning prayer, devotions, and the scripture of the day (SOD) theme. 

DAILY BREAD - Breakfast and great fellowship.

EXPLORING THE W.O.R.D. - Join your counselors for a time of spirit led Praise and Worship, and Christian teaching on the word of God

LUNCH BREAK - Join us at the 'Walking on Water Cafe for lunch.  Rest up! 

FOP - Stands for "Face On Pillow" - a time for counselors and campers to catch a nap or read in cabins.  Rest up and re-energize for the afternoon! 

EXPLORING GOD'S WONDERS ACTIVITIES -  Campers select and participate in dynamic Teach Me Groups.  choose one of serveral choices for a week of fun and learning.  Examples:  Painting, Crafts, Drama, Fishing, Face Painting, Dance, Workshop, Papier Mache.  Group offerings will be subject to availability of instructor..

FREE TIME

  • Canoeing, tubing, kayaking, paddle boat
  • Swimming lagoon
  • Bike Hikes

DINNER HOUR - Regroup at the 'Walking on Water' Cafe for some scrumptious food.  Kick back, give God thanks and let's eat.

OVERTIME - End your day with cabin devotions and sharing.  Get some sleep!
