Summer Camp Scholarship Application
2008

Important information to consider before filling out this application:

STEPS TO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

Shiloh Adventure is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian ministry.  We are not sponsored or supported by any particular church or denomination.  Our board members ask churches, companies and individuals for contributions to raise support for camp.  Our heart wants to send every child and youth to camp that wants to go!  The more we raise the more we can provide to each family, and hopefully support all the families who want to send their kids to camp.  We appreciate your understanding and support to that goal.

You may apply on-line by filling in the information in the fields below and then pressing the ‘submit’ button.  Or, you may download the Camp Scholarship Application file and send your filled-in application to:

            Director, Shiloh Adventure Camp

            PO Box 74

            Cocoa, FL 32923-0074

Or, attach your file and email to the Director at:  info@shilohadventure.com

After reading about the process, if you have any further questions or concerns please call or e-mail the Director at info@shilohadventure.com

Please be in prayer and see what the Lord would have you to do as your part in order to send your child(ren) to camp.  Before any financial assistance can be granted, those seeking support must be willing to share in this burden by taking the steps below.  For planning purposes, and as a general rule, families seeking camp tuition scholarships should ‘plan’ to share in ¼ to ½ of the financial burden.  Of course, there are exceptions for those who have no means of support or ability to meet the steps below.  Often, given sufficient donations, we are able to offer full scholarships without turning away anyone.  And again, this all depends on our success in raising funds for scholarships.  Please pray that the LORD would provide!

Step One: Ask for Assistance

Ask your church (This needs to be done and answered below)
Ask relatives and friends
Ask local businesses

We ask that you first ask your church for help.  When you talk to your pastor or elders, ask if your church might sponsor or contribute to your child(ren) registration fee.  Other church members can make contributions through your church, designated to the Shiloh Adventure Scholarships in your name.  And they can receive a tax benefit for their contributions.

Another option is to ask if you could 'introduce' Shiloh to your pastor and the congregation.  Ask whether it would be possible to have a Shiloh poster and brochure box set-up in your fellowship area.  Or, better yet, we can come to your gathering fellowship before or after services and have a table to hand out flyers for registering other kids, recruiting counselors or teachers, and to raise scholarships.  Remember, if you raise funds through contributions at your church, have those who contribute mark the memo portion of the check with your name and we will earmark your contributions for your scholarships.

Step Two: Service

Allow the camper to help work for the money needed to go to camp by involving them.  Ask people YOU know (like neighbors) if there is any work they can do (mow the lawn, wash the car, rake the yard, etc.) in exchange for support.  Call on local businesses for a donation or to perform a service such as washing the storefront windows.  Do you (parent/guardian) have a talent or skill that can be used by camp?  We need volunteers for kitchen staff, teaching crafts or outdoor skills, counseling, and building!  We could also use any services which you might be able to provide such as advertising, printing, music equipment rental or worship band, propane or septic services, or carpentry, handyman.  How can you donate your time to serve the ministry?

Step Three: Tangible Contributions

Do you have a product, service or item that can be used by camp for a gift-in-kind exchange for camp tuition?  Camp can use canoes, kayaks, sporting equipment, ice machine, cars, trucks, RV's, campers, and BOATS.  If we can't use these items directly, we can sell them to use the money received for scholarship.  Consider a fundraising garage sale to generate extra income to be used toward camp costs.  Typically each year, Shiloh offers at least one fundraiser before camp to help kids raise funds toward their camp fees.  Parents are encouraged to participate in this fundraiser.  Please indicate your intention to participate and level of involvement in the fundraiser.  For more information, contact us at (321) 452-3943.

Step Four: Savings

Can you arrange to have a group to come to camp by coordinating with family members, friends, or a church group?  If you can put together 6 or more kids to come to camp at once we can give a group rate at a substantial savings!

Step Five: Pledging

As you consider all these options before camp starts, we ask that you consider whether you can make a "pledge" toward tuition following camp.  This would only be a monthly pledge contribution - without legal obligation.  We ask that you consider a monthly amount through the end of the year (December) following camp.  We realize financial situations change, so if you're willing to make the best good-faith effort to meet the pledge, we understand if you cannot.  Just please let us know.  We can even arrange for automatic credit card or check payments, if you'd like.

Step Six: Sign-up

Fill out the application form. You will need to state how much you are able to pay out of your own pocket and describe your household financial situation.  We also need to know how much support you have raised outside your home and what efforts you made to receive it.  List other considerations that will help assist with paying your camp tuition (salvage, service, and savings).

Step Seven: Submit

Just click the submit button.  Or, you can download the (click here>>>) 2008 Scholarship Application, fill it out and send it to the following address.

Director

Shiloh Adventure Camp

PO Box 74

Cocoa, FL 32923

Or, attach your file and email to the Director at:  info@shilohadventure.com

Either the Director or Treasurer will call you about your application.  Please know that your information will be held strictly confidential, and destroyed/shredded following the camp and/or pledge year.  In fact other than the Director and Treasurer, you and you child's or children's involvement in the scholarship process will be kept completely anonomous.

While it is our goal to help everyone, sometimes this just isn't possible. We will work with you to find a mutually beneficial arrangement for the both of us so that we can fill the camp with kids (payment schedule, reduced tuition amount, corporate scholarships, etc.) The more you do the more we can do for all!

Remember that God's Word says in John 15:16 "You did not choose me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name."
