Shiloh operates a Camp Store with drinks, candy and ice cream (at appropriate times of the day.)  Campers use a Camp Store 'debit' card to make purchases as they go.  Parents can 'load' the card (or cards) with as much money as they'd like.  The cards are kept by at the store so they don't get lost.

Shiloh provide Special Adventure Excursion trips each week at nominal fee.  One trip - the Turtle Nesting Night Hike provides the opportunity for a small number of campers to watch as sea turtles lay their eggs.  The tour is operated by the new Barrier Island Endangered Environmental Lands Program Center.  The cost is $10.00 each.  A few parents are welcome to join and 'chaparone' the kids to the beach event.  But, be sure to call ASAP  because availabilty is extremely limited.  This tour is only for camp dates in June and July.  Also, we offer a day time excursion to go SNORKELING in the SEBASTIAN TIDAL POOLS.  During this outing we also stop by the Sebastian State Park Spanish Fleet Wreck Museum which is quite fun and very educational.  The excursion costs $5.00 (bring your own snorkeling equipment) or $10.00 (including mask and snorkel rental).  Just about everyone in camp goes to this excursion.  Again parents are welcome to join and chaparone the campers.

When is camp?

Our camp runs from Sunday 4:00 pm to Friday Evening about 7:00pm.  Closing Ceremonies are on Friday evening immediately following dinner at 5:30 pm.  Parents are encouraged to come early, join us for dessert and enjoy an overview of the week of fun at camp.  So, parents, please plan to get off work early so you can participate in this special event.

Where is camp?

Currently Shiloh Adventure Camp is hosted at Long Point Park, Melbourne Beach, FL.  You can get turn by turn directions at our Directions page.  Shiloh's facilities are mobile.  Other than June and July, our transportable bunkhouses are store at Teen Missions Camp in Merritt Island.  When we started camping in 2004 we held camp at Manatee Hammock Park in Titusville.  Since 2008 we have been setting up camp at Long Point Park (a Brevard County park) right on the Indian River Intercoastal, and just 1.5 miles north of Sebastian Inlet.  It takes us about six days to move the bunkhouses and set-up all the fixings to start camp each year.

What church are you with?

Shiloh Adventure is not affiliated with any one church.  We are IRS designated 501 [C] [3] non-profit, inter-denominational organization incorporated in the State of Florida, and a member of Christian Camps and Conference Association (see us on their website at http:/www.CCCA.org).

How did Shiloh get started?

Laura Bryant founded Shiloh Adventure back in 2002.  She has a tremendous heart for youth with four boys of her own.  She started praying with her prayer group every Friday for five years and this camp is a direct result of those prayers.  Laura is currently living in Ashland, Missouri with twin sons, Austin and Blake.

What are the biggest features to your camp?

We are local here in Brevard County with easy access from the Central Florida area.  We have air-conditioned mobile bunkhouses.  Each bunkhouse sleeps eight people. We are personal,  one Counselor, one Jr. Counselor (CIT) and six campers. That gives us a camper to staff ratio of six to one.  We are small, our maximum capacity is fifty (50) campers per week.

Our bunkhouses are transported to our current sites at Long Point Park the week prior to the start of our summer camping.  We are right on the Indian River so waterfront activities such as canoeing, paddleboat, tubing, kayaks are primary activity as is swimming in the inground pool and fishing on the pier.  All of our trailers-bunkhouses are connected to an intercom system just like a school. This ensures the safety of the campers. They have a call button to the office and announcements can be heard throughout camp.

Can the campers call home? Do they get mail?

We don't encourage phone calls and allow them to be made only if absolutely necessary. Phone calls tend to bring out a variety of emotions which have proven to hinder rather than help.  Of course, in the event of an emergency, phone calls to or from parents may be facilitated.  We do encourage 'snail' mail.  Campers are given an added sense of comfort if they know their parents care enough to write or send a 'care package.'  So don't hesitate to do so, but make and send your letters early so your child gets the mail early in the week!   Although Long Point Park does not have internet access, we will make an attempt to implement e-mail messages for our campers, just keep in mind it may take a day or so to deliver e-mail as staff/volunteers travel from home to the site.  You can find further info in our Important Info for Campers/Parents handbook.

What can I do to help the camp ministry?

Support the vision of developing a local Christian Camp that presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ to cultivate hope in youth!  Send a tax deductible one time gift or be in partnership with Shiloh Adventure and commit to a regular tax deductible gift.  This can be done by check or credit card at our using our secure Donate/Pay page.

Volunteering at camp is crucial and a variety of ways you can help build this exciting ministry. You can also help by making introductions and contacts to present the ministry to your church, school, or business. Put together a group of kids to bring to camp and take advantage of our group rate.

Donations of PRODUCTS, Video System, Canoes, Kayaks, Pontoon Boat or SERVICES are greatly appreciated.  We are currently in need of a commercial refrigerator ($1,800), commercial freezer ($2,400), Insulated 10 gallon beverage dispensers. ($140.) or RV's can be extremely helpful. Contact our Director, Lou Larsen at (321) 452-3943, for information on ways you can help.

How long have you been doing camps?

Shiloh started as an idea in 1999.  The initial group of Board Members incorporated Shiloh Adventure, Inc. in 2002 with the purpose of establishing a permenant Christian youth camp and conference center in Brevard County.  Our first year of camping was 2004.

Do the kids have to do all the activities?

We encourage all youth to become an active participant in all program and spiritual activities unless they are sick or injured and are unable to participate.  Campers are part of the cabin "Buddy" group and must work together as a team through the week to achieve their goal and earn honor flags.   In fact all members of the Buddy group must remain with their Counselor(s) - so it is not permitted for some in the group to split-off and not participate in group activities.  If a camper is unable to actively participate they must be given a RR slip from the camp first-aid station staff.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, partial camper scholarships are available by through our Scholarship Application process.  You can apply on-line, or download our form and e-mail, mail or fax it into our our Executive Director.  Go to our Scholarship Page for more details.  Our heart wants to send every child and youth to camp that wants to go!  Please be in prayer and see what the Lord would have you to do as your part in order to send your child(ren) to camp.  Before any financial assistance can be granted, those seeking support must be willing to share in this burden. This is in a shared relationship.
